Have you heard about my new podcast, Wells Said? I’m excited to announce that it’s available on popular podcast platforms. The name “Wells Said” is an obvious play on my last name, and I hope you find each episode filled with well-said conversations about topics that impact people here in Manatee County. While I may also touch on subjects of national interest, my primary focus is to provide valuable information and answers to many local questions.
I often have the honor of speaking at public events, where I talk about various programs and crime-fighting efforts of the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. While these speaking engagements are rewarding, not everyone gets to hear what I share in detail. That’s why I decided to venture into podcasting, to take more time discussing what’s happening in our community and to better highlight the work we do every day at your Sheriff’s Office.
In each episode, released monthly, I’ll sit down with members of my staff to discuss their roles and share stories about their daily experiences. It promises to be both informative and engaging. Last month, we spoke with Captain Brad Johnson, the commander of District Three, about the challenges we face in the county’s largest patrol district. We discussed responding to calls from the rural areas of east Manatee County to our expanding communities north of the river, along with what deputies in these zones encounter every day. We also reminded listeners that, even though we live in a safe community where overall crime is below 18%, residents can do better by locking their cars! I know it might sound repetitive, but if everyone would just lock up and secure their valuables, we could dramatically reduce the number of vehicle burglaries. This means fewer victims of crime and fewer investigations for what we all know is a truly preventable issue.
Tune in this month when we discuss fraud investigations and all the scams popping up online and by telephone. We want to help you learn how to protect yourself and provide insight into how we investigate these often complex schemes designed to steal your money.
Here’s where you can find the Wells Said podcast with Manatee County Sheriff Rick Wells. I hope you’ll join us and tell others about it!
