Local Roots, Professional Leadership
The Spot Athletic Center is owned by Logan Wells, who was born and raised in the Palmetto area. A former Palmetto High School baseball standout, Wells went on to play at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida, before beginning his coaching career. With four years as a Division II coach at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, he helped guide athletes to the next level.
Wells’ vision for The Spot stems from his deep ties to the community and passion for player development—ensuring athletes in the area have access to the same level of resources and instruction as those in bigger baseball markets.
Partners and Trainers
The strength of The Spot also lies in its partnerships with an impressive lineup of instructors and trainers, including:
• Scooter Gennett – Former MLB All-Star
• Andy LaRoche – Former MLB player & current MiLB hitting coach
• Jamie Mallard – 16th Round Draft Pick, Los Angeles Angels
• Matt Johnson – Former Division I college player & current Division II college coach at Eckerd College
A Growing Presence in the Community
The Spot Athletic Center has already established itself as a vital resource for baseball players across the region, but the buzz around Palmetto suggests there’s much more on the horizon. Rumors of expansion and growth are in the air, promising even bigger opportunities for athletes in the near future.
