Be sure to add Holmes Beach on Anna Maria Island to your list if you’re looking for a relaxing getaway. Located just north of Manatee Avenue, it’s easy to reach and offers convenient beach access from the many side streets along Gulf Drive. Once you arrive, you’ll find a broad, expansive beach with sweeping views of the surf that stretches for miles. The gentle slope of the shoreline also makes Holmes Beach an excellent spot for snorkeling.
Holmes Beach is THE perfect place for a day of beach therapy!
Easy drive to Anna Maria Island, go north from Manatee Ave. on Gulf Dr.
Parking is free on off pavement side streets, marked areas only.
(Our secret spot is on 52nd Street behind the plaza. (Don’t tell anyone!)
There are no restrooms, snack bars, or showers on sight, but you WILL
enjoy beautiful scenic views!

Shelling is very good. (Don’t take the live ones!)
Holmes Beach isn’t well publicized like some of the others so it’s not
super crowded & no commercial development.
No Lifeguards on duty.
The waters on Holmes Beach are typically smooth and calm. If you were
going to swim in the Gulf, this is the place but don’t swim alone as there are
no lifeguards.
TIP# 5. If you want to listen to music at the beach, give earbuds a try! Everyone appreciates it!
