There is one sure sign that spring has arrived on the Gulf Coast: the crack of a bat at LECOM Park.
Each February and March, the Pittsburgh Pirates return to Bradenton for Spring Training, bringing sunshine, excitement, and one of our community’s favorite seasonal traditions.
⚾Why You Should Go
Spring Training has a completely different feel than regular season baseball.
The atmosphere is relaxed. The stadium is intimate. You are closer to the action.
You can hear the players talking from the dugout and feel the energy of athletes competing for a roster spot. It is family friendly, affordable, and perfect for both serious baseball fans and those simply looking for a fun afternoon outdoors.
Originally built in 1923, LECOM Park is one of the oldest ballparks still used for spring training. It blends historic charm with modern upgrades, offering great sightlines and a classic baseball experience you just do not get in larger stadiums.
🌴 Make It a Full Day Around Town
A Spring Training game is just the beginning.
Before first pitch, take a stroll along the beautiful Bradenton Riverwalk and enjoy views of the Manatee River. It is the perfect way to soak up the fresh spring air.
After the game, keep the fun going:
Grab a cold drink at a local brewery
Meet friends for dinner in downtown Bradenton
Explore the shops and restaurants along Old Main Street
Everything is within minutes of the ballpark, making it easy to turn nine innings into a full day of spring fun.
🌞 A True Local Tradition
For locals and seasonal residents alike, Pirates Spring Training marks the unofficial start of spring. It brings visitors into town, supports local businesses, and gives everyone a reason to gather outside and enjoy this beautiful time of year.
So grab your sunglasses, wear a little black and gold, and head to the ballpark. Spring in Bradenton is best experienced with a hot dog in one hand and baseball in the air. ⚾
