September… Can We Just Enjoy One Month at a Time?
Welcome to September in Florida! The kids have been back in school for almost a month, parents have nearly mastered the car line, grandparents are getting the “Can you pick them up today?” calls, and empty-nesters are quietly sipping their coffee thinking, Been there, done that.
Meanwhile, the rest of us are just trying to figure out what month it actually is. We haven’t even flipped the calendar past Labor Day and Florida stores are already displaying pumpkins, Thanksgiving turkeys AND Christmas trees. Seriously? I’m still wearing flip-flops, my steering wheel is 147 degrees, and now you want me thinking about Santa?

Labor Day is supposed to mark the unofficial end of summer. Apparently, no one sent Florida the memo. So while our friends up north start thinking about sweaters, we’re still searching for the closest air-conditioning vent. That calls for something COLD.
Try a Labor Less Spritzer: chilled Sauvignon Blanc, sparkling water, fresh lime and frozen grapes. Simple, refreshing and practically no labor involved—which seems completely appropriate for the holiday.
Or pop open the bubbly for a September Survival Sparkler: chilled Prosecco, a splash of peach nectar and frozen berries. Perfect whether you survived the first month of school, survived your grandchildren for the weekend, or simply survived Costco when the Christmas decorations appeared before Labor Day.
September is that funny little in-between month. Summer vacations are behind us, routines are returning, calendars are filling up, and somehow the holidays are already staring us directly in the face. So before we start buying Halloween candy, planning Thanksgiving dinner and untangling Christmas lights, can we please just enjoy September? Pour something cold, find your favorite chair and savor the moment. Because at the rate we’re going, Valentine’s Day candy should be hitting the shelves any minute now.
